How To Get To Corsica

How To Get To Corsica

The French island Corsica is next-door-neighbour to the Italian island, Sardinia. The question is how to get to Corsica? Depending on how much time you have got, you can either fly in or arrive to Corsica by ferry.

Catching a flight to Corsica is easy, as there are four airports to choose from on the relatively small island.

Ajaccio, the Campo dell Oro Airport, is the biggest. You can fly directly here with easyjet from the UK. Other airlines flying in to Ajaccio are Air France, XL Airways, France flights, Airlinair, Luxair, transavia, Air Corsica and JetairFly.

Bastia, Poretta Airport, is the second biggest airport – 25min drive from Bastia. The following airlines have direct flights to Poretta Airport: Air Corsica, Air France, Cimberair, Easyjet, Easyjet Switzerland, Germanwings, Jetairfly, Lufthansa, Luxair and Malmo Aviation.

Figari Airport is a minor airport – situated 3 km to the North-West of the village of Figari, in the south of the island 25kms from Porto Vecchio and 21kms from Bonifacio. Direct flights are available with Ryanair from London, Stansted, 3 times a week. Also Thomson Airways, XL Airways and Air France serve the airport.

Calvi Airport is a very small airport 4 miles southeast of Calvi. Calvi Airport is served by the following airlines: Air France, Air Corsica, Air Berlin, InterSky and CCM Airlines.

If you are flying in you might want to rent a car in your arrival airport.

Arriving to Corsica by ferry is another excellent possibility, if you are bringing your car for a Corsica villa vacation and want to see a bit more of France or Italy on your way.

From mainland France you can sail to Corsica from Marseilles, Nice and Toulon.

From mainland Italy the ports of Civitavecchia, Genoa, Livorno and Savona have ferry routes to Corsica. So does Santa Teresa di Gallura in Sardinia.

Corsica has six ferry ports connecting the island with France, Italy and Sardinia; Ajaccio, Bastia, Il Rousse, Porto Vecchio, Propriano and Bonifacio.

So getting to Corsica should be pretty easy. What is left for you is to sort out the combinations that suits your end destination and your means of transport. How to get to Corsica is not a problem, you just need to make a choice.
