The Chrysler Building on Lexington Avenue must be one of the world’s most famous and photographed buildings. William Van Alen’s art-deco design was the tallest skyscraper of its day when it cunningly beat the Bank of Manhatten’s building to this title by topping out with a secretly constructed spire. Its glory is in its styling and you can enter the building to admire the vast ceiling mural in the lobby.

The Staten Island Ferry is the commuter ferry that runs from Battery Park to Staten Island. Featured in the film “Working Girls” you may feel as if you are being herded like cattle but this is everyday New York life. The ferry passes close to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island while you take in the splendid views of Lower Manhattan and the New York Harbor. You can even take your bike on board for free!
