Villa Holiday In Nerja, Torrox or Frigiliana – Costa Del Sol East

Are you on the look-out for a holiday spot with a relaxed pace of life, a laid back ambiance and a true Spanish feel? You can still find a piece of Costa del Sol, east of Malaga, which is not disfigured by tall buildings and souvenir shops.

The coast and countryside east of Malaga has a string of white villages; Nerja, Torrox & Frigiliana and further inland the villages of Sayalonga, Comares, Canillas de Aceituno, Archez and Competa. Since the new highway has been inaugurated it only takes a little less than an hour to drive from Malaga airport to the eastern part of the Malaga province.

The inland stretches all the way up to Sierra Almijara and the large Natural Parks where wild boar and mountain goats live alongside huge birds such as golden eagles and black vulture.

Enjoy the lack of trying noises from the mass tourism. Well you might have to endure the sound of an excavated moped, locally referred to as “the plague of Andalucia”, which the Eastern Costa del Sol has in common with the rest of the Malaga province.

Enjoy the smell and taste of smoked sardines from the beach restaurants between Nerja & Torrox and if you go there on a Sunday afternoon you will realize how Spanish families spend their Sundays. Often they will be three generations together sharing their meal at a beach restaurant and there will be a lot of unbridled laughter, screaming and shouting.

The Torrox area is blessed with the best climate in Europe. Well protected from the cold winds from the north by the mountain ranges of Sierra Nevada, Almijara and Tejeda. Because its south-facing slopes are sheltered this area is the only area in Europe, that are able to grow tropical crops such as mangoes, avocados and bananas on a commercial basis.
Torrox is divided into 4 areas. You have Torrox Pueblo, the old Moorish part, Torrox Costa by the sea, Torrox Park between the village and the sea and finally Torrox Campo, in the surrounding mountains, where you will be staying if you choose a  self catering holiday in Torrox.

Frigiliana is a very picturesque village. It has won several awards for being one of the most beautifully renovated villages in Spain. It is probably no coincidence that you will find a concentration of international artists, musicians and writers living in Frigiliana.
The Spanish word “Tranquilo” may have its origin somewhere in this neighborhood, because if it is a quiet rhythm of life, inspiration and a sense of inner peace you seek, then this is the place to look for it.
Take pleasure in a chat about love and the meaning of life under a shady tree on the village square, while you get acquainted with the local tapas and wine.
Watch an old man pass by with his mule loaded with bulging baskets of crops from the plot he has outside the village. A holiday in Frigiliana is time off from your everyday life.

Nerja is placed right by the coast. Originally it was a small fishing village but now it has grown into a cosmopolitan town. Choosing a holiday in Nerja is keeping your options open. You will find fantastic beaches, a variety of international food, the offer of a hectic nightlife at Tutti-Frutti Square and only a 10-15 minutes drive to the peace and quiet of the Andalucian outback.
